RESIDENTIAL - GARAGE SLABS & DRIVEWAYS

After new driveway

There is no building material with a shorter shelf life than plastic (wet) concrete.  Mistakes in its handling won't always present themselves in the first few years. Be mindful of this when considering who you trust to build what should be the last driveway or garage slab you buy.

E-Z Masonry's pursuit of lasting impressions calls for focus in every step of the process.   Our base preparation begins with the removal of at least 2 in. of soil and replacing the displaced soil with permeable granular base (Class 5).  Next we wet the new base before making at least 2 full passes with a vibrating plate compactor.  The hard to reach areas are hand tamped and any soft spots are identified and corrected on the spot.  Forms are placed to maximize run-off and maintain proper elevations as they relate to the aprons, doors and surrounding lawn.

In addition to thorough base preparation; 6" x 6" 10/10 gauge reinforcing wire is placed in the lower 1/3 of the new slab to enhance tensile strength and mitigate differential shifting.  Expansion joints, control joints and form splices are also located to create functional yet aesthetically pleasing breaks in the finished slab. Our garage slabs will exceed the requirements of your city or municipality in design strength,  thickness,  joint control and reinforcement

Your ready-mix will be ordered in manageable and well staged increments to minimize delays.  Mixtures such as water reducers, super plasticizers and set retarders will be incorporated to minimize water content and optimize the timing of the finishing process.  E-Z Masonry's finishers know to pay special attention  to avoid over finishing or early finishing of the plastic concrete.  Sound practices will avoid the trapping of air entrainment and bleed water in the fresh concrete and minimize the instances of pop-outs or other surface defects.  After a thorough clean-up the work areas are backfilled and the lawn is dressed with clean top-soil.
